Joseph .... interesting you mentioned the inboard mount for a Fox 35 ..... I did that .... the interesting thing is that the 'burp' now occurs on the hard inside maneuver.

I don't think that the phenomenon is a hard influx of richening gasses.  I think its the opposite, at the time of the acceleration, the bypass gases are pushed back into the bypass, resulting in a momentary starved condition.  (but I may be wrong)

Frank

with the overly large bypass, the gas velocity isn't strong enough the overcome the acceleration
the reduced bypass area helps create a higher velocity to help the gases get into the combustion chamber

Screws are fine.  Just make sure that you plan for the oil soaking.  Consider giving the mount a CA bath before you fly it.  Make sure it has soaked in and set before you try the screw!  Alternatively, if the plane lives long enough you can drill out the holes and put a wood dowel in the hole then drill and screw into it.  That is what I used to do after my flying skills increased to the point that the 1/2 life of the plane was not used up by the trip to the field!

As Dan stated, Klean Strip works fine. However, you must use the high VOC formula. The low  VOC formula turns to snot when mixed with dope.

That's right Larry....I should have mentioned that on my earlier post.
Usually the back of the can in the upper right says 'high VOC formula' or something close to that.
No mention at all means that it's the wrong stuff.
I checked all the big box stores and Wal Mart has the lowest price.
But.....regardless where you get that Kleen Strip lacquer....check the top.
On one can I bought, the metal ring that the plastic lid screws onto....popped out of the top of the can....leaving a huge hole.
It must have been a bad crimp.
Fortunately I had another Kleen Strip can and that saved the day.

So far, no one has mentioned being bothered by the noise. We use Cox .049 reed valve engines. The parents watched, and cheered as the kids took turns flying. The kids had a great time, and seem very excited about our upcoming building sessions for them to build their own planes.
That's all that matters. Don't listen to the naysayers who tell you the kids won't keep up with it. The point is you exposed them to it and they had fun. They now know what CL is and if they ever start modeling they may revisit it in the future. You never know when your influence will bear fruit and if it doesn't, so what, you spent a day enjoying your hobby and had some laughs with a group of eager pupils. Good job Dave.

I sent an email to buy the ringmaster.

I am trying this as well.  I thought I had caught up on all emails.  Must have missed yours somewhere or just a computer glitch.  Anyway, the lousy box Ringmaster was one of the first to get sold.

Sorry for missing you.

If someone else got missed, please let me know.  I tried to answer all the emails regarding this earlier this week.  I think it was Monday morning.

I have seen a few Cox 049 models use simple wood screws. But after a bit if time, vibration, oily residue in the mounting screw area, etc., the screws will work themselves loose. Just check them for tightness often.

But if it were me, I would use a bolt-thru method.
