Now guys have done it.   In the NATS News it was stated that no scores would be posted because the judges read the NATS News and the forums.   I hope they have enough judges left after today that will be honest enough to say they have not seen scores of any kind so far for the final rounds and the top five, plus the Walker Cup.    VD~

Doc,
All due respect, where does it say that the judges read the forums in Nats News?  I see where Nats News won't publish scores but saying that the forums shouldn't either is a bit much.

I'd write more, but I have the first flight tomorrow.

You know what they say Howard.

Today's semi-finals looks to be again a contest with Mother Nature. At 6:00 am it is foggy, 70 degrees and wind already at 12 mph NNW.  It's supposed to top out at 80 (we're thankful after the heat we've had for a week here) but the winds are to remain tough or get worse. With intrepidation we go forth.....

Very cold.  Nasty wet mist.  Winds measured 9.5 to 13.  Most getting through with gritted teeth.

Just watched Kaz put up a super flight with the Hellcat.  More remarkable as he has been in great pain with the elbow all week. Having surgery when he gets home. Using  both hands on level laps.  I'll not be telling the sad stories but one ship pancaked, one withdrew.

Congrats to the top 5 and Eric Taylor for winning advanced. They all flew extremely well!

The best is when the pipe heat steams open all the joints around the tunnel, and lets oil in. That's why my current airplane is mostly not NATs-worthy any more.

I take it Geno was the victim of misfortune mentioned by Dave Trible.

Thanks Tom.  Was pulling out for home first light in the morning but think I'll stay till no later than 10 am (I'm  telling myself).  Betting it will be done by then.  I'll try to tell the story as I see it then, as the battery holds up and as any care to follow.

Randy is correct, power was not the problem. Lack of perfect trim and weight issues were to blame, along with my bad luck of getting two terrible wind flights. The wind was not great at any time today but it was better at some times and worse in others.

My Dreadnought (with the same engine and pipe) is better trimmed and has flown in worse wind than I flew in today with great success. When I made the decision to use the Matrix (about 2 hours before AP judging) I thought it was good enough to be competitive in any weather conditions that mother nature could throw at me. Apparently I was wrong. :(
