Amazing how things can be drawn in two dimensions, but are impossible to do in three.... H^^

Clearly you're supposed to cut the elevator into four sections: one on each side of the fuselage inboard of the vertical stabs, and a pair outboard of the vertical stabs.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Ty,

Please if you don't mind, a bit more info on your "I" beam?

Material, liminations, and your cord thickness?

Nice work, looks like you build fast?

Ty, why should the rudder be equal above and below ?
I thought the rudder should be balanced according to the c/g - c/l of the aircraft horizontally.
Not 100% sure if I am saying it clearly.

Also, what's to say they are too big? That's really for the designer to choose.
I ask because my new world beating F2B also has twin fins that look too big!

Looks like a standard I beam wing to me. It might take you two days if you are slow but TY could build it in a afternoon.

Short tail wheel strut, equals high rudders. By the by, I have a kit of the Ballerina, any one want to buy it? 85.00 plus postage in the lower 48 takes it.  After Christmas.  H^^

Ty,

Got a photo of that Ballerina kit? If I like it, would you trade graphics, lettering or paint mask?

Your "I" beam, is it laminated?

Ty,

Your photo, looks like you have plywood laminated on the spar about 5 to 6 ribs out? Is that plywood?

I would like to see a photo of that Ballerina? Sounds nice. Wingspan?

Mark,

Thanks for that, I appreciate it.

Looks like the Ballerina was designed with the Aircoupe in mind. Not extremely attractive, IMHO, but still a nice classic. Painted properly would help the appearance.

I wonder if the model has real ribs or Ares wing type of setup?

I would trade for it.

I agree the plans look odd, however, perhaps the elevator outboard of the rudders is fixed - that it is just a joint line not a hinge line.  That would make the movable elevator limited to between the rudders.  Does it look like that would be enough elevator?

In any case I prefer the mods you are making: equal over/under and moved out to the tips...

This is not "my" I-beam, but a design by Ron Peterson in Ohio. I don't know him, but purchased this on ebay from him about 6 years ago.

I'm wondering if this might be the same Ron Peterson that posed with the Mackey Spitfire in the magazine article? It would be neat to find out!  y1 Steve

Some of the Ballerina's had a very fat nose and jet pod wheel pants that I thought was ugly.  The Ballerina 3 had the narrow nose and normal wheel pants. It looked much better. I saw quite a few Ballerina's in the day and the rudders always looked to big. ~^ Saw one with triple rudders %^@ that were much smaller and it looked great. Here it is with the narrow nose.

Ed,
Thanks for using my "Ballerina" picture. It is from an old slide I took at the "61 Willow Grove Nats. Here it is in a format that will enlarge. I am adding a second picture, that is slightly out of focus. That airplane would be front row today.

Looking good Ty,
The stablets on the side of the rudders are interesting. Were they on the plans or something you added for taste? I am certaintly interested to hear how she flies. Keep up the good work!

You could leave it pink, put the breast cancer logo on it and call it good and go fly!
