I have to admit I am fascinated with the guy. He's such a perfect example of his 'type" of internet trolls I just wonder what makes him tick. He's not stupid, that's for sure.
You run into people like him a lot on USENET, or at least you did when USENET was a serious pursuit. The closest equivalent that I can think of was a guy in SCI.SPACE named Brad Guth who believes, or at least claims to believe, that there is sentient life on Venus and that NASA has a massive conspiracy to cover it up. Never mind that the surface of Venus has a pressure of 90 atmospheres, is just shy of 1000 degrees, or has sulfuric acid clouds, nor that if there WAS life on Venus, NASA's budget would be infinite in perpetuity. He can make rational and complex arguments that hold together on some level, and can go on forever with boundless energy. He makes the same sort of basic errors of fact and is stunningly ignorant on his topics, but then constructs elaborate and reasonably coherent defenses trying to cover that fact. Of course he assumes people are coordinating their efforts to gang up on him.
Brett
Brett,
You’re so kind and thank you for the reply.
Yes, I try to promote the hobby as often as possible and I try to stay as pro-active as I can.
SH is a great Forum and anyone can Post, reply or start their own Thread. In fact, there should be more Threads. The more there is, the more interesting the Forum becomes. The more interesting the more viewers, the more viewers and the hobby grows. A really good thing.
I always wonder why there isn’t more Threads? There’s always building taking place, not to mention interesting things going on in the work areas of modelers that could be shared.
Robert, BTW. You did a great job redoing your work area, looks really good in your videos. The floor makes the space look larger, so good choice there.
Sure Brett, I could just Post replies with text as most do, but how many people read books without photos?
Soooooooooo, I Post photos as much as possible to make my threads and replies more interesting. I cannot imagine anyone finding fault with that?
Man, that would be a terrible thing, attempting to marginalize another modeler because of jealously, or other self centered reasons.
"Who would be “anti-hobby?”
Good news though. Eventually I hope to mirror Sparky, and eventually upload videos.
I’m kidding. But I gotcha! Really, just kidding. I’ll stay with photos.
Interesting thing about using a photo/picture in a build is, “Use a picture, it’s worth a thousand words.” 1911, said by Tess Flanders referring to journalism and publicity. I think?
I do wish more modelers would share their interest and work as I’m sure you do also.
So, let's all work together to make Robert's Forum a place where sharing and the growth of the hobby can take place. Nothing hard about that.
Thanks again for the reply.
