prop question
«
on:
September 05, 2006, 06:52:19 PM »
I'm hoping someone here can put me on the right trial. I am looking for a speed prop in the 10 to 11 inch dia range with pitch about 10 inches. rpm range is 23 to 24000 rpm. Obviously this is not a control line effort. Its actually for 2 different rc speed efforts. They have come up against a prop barrier and I said I'd check here to see if anyone could lead them to a solution. 12 inch obviously is prohibative due to tip velocities.
Thanks, bob branch

you may be able to find some 9x 13 glass props from the hi nitro days. 9" was the longest we used now we run 8" on the 65's

I was in our largish LHS on Saturday, and Mejlik (sp?) had props up to 28-10, and $$$, too! I don't remember pitches in the smaller sizes, but they can probably make them . . .

I have some topflight 10 x 8---might rework to 10x 10?
Digging through old speed props i fint the lagest dia in the 10+pitches is 9inch dia.
some apear to be about 9x12+ but most writing is gone from rework or faded from age.
have one more place to look--will look tonight.

Currently the plane is flying with an 11X10 and an 11.5X11 (cut down from 11X11. Onboard airborne telemetry shows 22,300 rpm and 176mph airspeeds. I think going to 10 inches will be a bit small. Thanks though.

I recently bought some wood speed props that were supposed to be 9/12 for nostalga speed for my McCoy 60. However, I found 5 Rite Pitch 10/12's mixed in. They are NOS with the original 1/4" hole, ready to be reamed to a usable size. John Contact me directly if interested. imtoolmanjohn@aol.com
