THE WACO IS GETTING A FACE LIFT. I KNOW WHY IT DID NOT STATIC WELL, SO I AM MAKEING LOTS OF CHANGES. I HOPE TO HAVE IT DONE BY APRIL.

What did you use to strip it?, Acetone, thinner, paint stripper??

STRIPED IT WITH PAINT STRIPER, FOR I HAD TWO PART AUTOMOTIVE CLEAR ON IT, NOTHING ELSE WOULD TOUCH IT. I HAVE THE FIN,RUDDER,STAB, AND ELAVATOR COVERED NOW AND I WILL START STICHING TOMORROW NIGHT. I WILL TAKE SOME PICTURES OF THAT PROCESS AND POST THEM HERE. F U N N Y W I L L......

Thanks for the reply. After the stripper, what are you using to neutralize the surface. Acetone, thinner?

Thanks ahead of time, since I have to start stripping my Sea Vixen. Hopefully there are no other problems to resolve.

Stitched, taped, and four coats of clear dope, I will hit it with a coat of primer next week before I mount the stab. The other pic. is the remote glow plug compartment. How I can start finishing the front end, and the landing gear. More later.

Slow but steady, it's going back together. I used polyspan on the stab, elev.,fin, and rudder. But on the fuse I used coverite, I felt I needed the added strength, not a lot of weight difference. Next I start the cockpit detailing, then some clear dope, I should have it ready to primer by the end of Feb.. More later.

John you asked about the stitching. On the two wings I did it the same way they do it at the Waco factory, needle and thread, up and down, over, down and up. On the rear parts I had to do it differently because of the way it is framed up, I cut glued each stitch to the rib and then taped. Slow but I was ok with it. I know there are better ways, but this worked for me.

You have a lot of patience Alan. I suspect that what you're doing looks the best, but I've already started with glue strips on my Jenny, so will probably continue with that. Next time I'll do it better. The Waco is looking good

Update; Now in primer, lots of sanding and a little filling and we'll be ready for color. Going to take a week or two off, going to the VSC and fly some stunt and hopefully sunny, warm weather.

Your trim detail on the stab mount turned out great, partner. That looks quite real.

Two coats of red, I will probably wait a few days and start on the black and gold trim colors. After that, next step will be adding all the #0 hex head screws to the fuselage. One step at a time, hummmmm.

Got my Waco decals made, they turned out great. Trim done and I have started inking now. I have ordered 200 #0-80 x 3/16 stainless steel screws and I will start on that this week too. Here are a few pics.

All detailing done, screws and panel line finished. I started fogging the ink lines and plan to spray the clear poly this week. then its time for the cockpit detailing. Target date for first flight, hum,,,,, maybe mid-May.

TWO COATS OF CLEAR, AND NOW WE START ON DETAILING THE COCKPIT, HOPEFULLY BETTER THAN IT WAS. THE NICE THING ABOUT TWO PART AUTOMOTIVE CLEAR IS, IT IS RAINING OUTSIDE AND I SHOT IT ANYWAYS.........NO FOGING,

AND IT IS DRY TO THE TOUCH IN 1/2 HOUR, READY FOR SANDING (if you have to) IN 6-8 HOURS. NOW IT IS A LITTLE HEAVYER THAN THE CLEAR WE ARE USE TO USEING, BUT IN SCALE IT'S NOT THAT BIG OF A THING. BEEN AT IT FOR 10 HOUR TODAY, THINK I'LL TAKE THE WIFE OUT TO SUPPER AND CATCH A PLAY AT OUR CIVIC THEATER. (our granddaughter is in the play)

I HAVE A QUESTION FOR ALL THOSE WHO'VE GONE BEFOR ME. WHEN FINISHED WITH YOUR SCALE PROJECT, ARE YOU EVER SATISFIED?

DO YOU FEEL, "IF YOU HAD MORE TIME, YOU COULD DO A BETTER JOB", OR MAYBE TO MUCH TIME ON ONE PROJECT. THIS WACO IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ONE BEFOR IT, BUT I'M NOT SURE I AM SATISFIED, HUMMM. NEED SOME ADVISE HERE.
