Brodak Perfect paint what thinner
« on: February 17, 2012, 05:33:00 PM »
I have some high-tech perfect paint from Brodak. I need to know what kind of thinner to use.

I actually used their thinner (Perfect) when I used it years ago.  I have been trying to find out just what colors John still has.  I brushed all the Perfect, didn't need thinner for that.  Never did spray it.

I feel there is a real need for FS spec paints to be used on our models and since Perfect went under I don't know of any.

I do remember my can of Perfect paint thinner. The can itself was very generic. The thinner though clearly stated it contained xylene and toluene. I did however have a can of Perfect paint from the 70's. I finally used that paint up last year. It was sky blue and I used it on all my profile canopies. The air content in the can really got the best of it. It would skin over requiring me to peel it out but the paint underneath was still good. I used just a low odor paint thinner and it thinned it just fine. I was concerned with it drying . The Perfect paints took a long time to dry. I never sprayed this paint. I think you could achieve a very nice finish using it. Ken

I used Perfect paint on quite a few models in the 70's and 80's and I believe that it was alklyd enamel. Frank Imbriaco got the last of my perfect paints at Brodaks last uear including thinner. I don't know what John might have left but iIdo know that he didn't list White for quite a long time. I still have quite a bit of the camoflage paint and urethane will go over it nicely.
