Anyone happen to know what size wheel collier is used on the Tutor II? 1/8 size will not fit. Is it a odd ball size wire LG?

If it's metric it's likely 4mm wire -- 1/8 inch is 3.2mm, so a 1/8" collar should fit 3mm wire just fine.  4mm wire is 0.157", which is just a hair over 5/32".  It should measure 5/32" with a ruler, and I would expect a 5/32" collar to fit, if you could find one.  Certainly a 1/8" collar drilled out with an 11/64" drill bit would fit; drill it out with a 5/32" bit and you could probably jam it on there, or just brush the inside with a rat-tail file and get it on.

I don't recommend putting the wire on a lathe -- there's really no good place to set the wire to go after it with sandpaper, and you'll leave grit on the ways.

When I'm feeling confident, I epoxy washers onto my landing gear wires -- it makes a much more compact installation than a wheel collar, and it's more secure.  When the time comes to take things apart, you can generally get them off by crunching the glue with a pair of pliers.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Well, I kind of like things simple. H^^  I drill mine out with a 5/32" and I get a tight fitting collar.

5/32" wheel collars are very common. Most 40 to 60 size R/C planes use that size gear. That would be .15625, so I think it would fit the 4mm ok. Otherwise drilling with a 5/32" bit should do the job also.

I can't believe a Tutor would have a 5/32 landing gear wire, I would think its closer to 3/32 or maybe 1/8. Anyway, there are very close metric sizes and without reamers or drills one could even file them to fit if they have a round needle file.

3/32" = .093
2.5mm= .098
1/8= .125
3.5mm= .137
5/32= .156
4mm= .157

  Assuming that they are brass or mild steel. I use the hardened CG wheel collars (so I can really crank down on them) and those will be a tough thing to drill out by .005.

Be a tough thing to ream too, but a diamond burr in a Dremel would do the trick.

 Paul, I used 5/32 wheel collars on my Tutor II. They fit just fine. Any local hobby shop should have them. Scrape the paint off the wire, put the 5/32 collar on and you are good to go. Use a flat washer between the wheel and collar also. I have over 500 trouble free flights on mine.
