One could use a sheet of half for a profile Fuse. for P - 40 , also the empenage is P-40 kitty hawkish , so Curtiss side profile would get a P-40 P-40 .

The ORIENTAL is a good flying fast building sucker . Some  types even put two engines on with the thrustline 7 in.s from the C/L ,
at over 70 Oz on .018 @ 70 ft. they STILL do an accurate schedule . So if profile use any type that whets your whistle .

Better with the Oriental wing though , so its a better place to start . You can even build an ORIENTAL from it !  

perhaps someone who has the PLAN full size would scan and afix a pdf or somesuch , so anyone wanting to build one can get onto it .

The one on the left is an ARF, I've got one of those real ones. I've never heard of an Oriental Plus. Do you know if those are made from blown up plans of the kit?

What are the other differences between the regular O and the O+?

Ah, so it does. I didn't catch that.

The wing taper is one thing also, but it really appears that if you overlaid the planform view, in addition to the wing taper, you would see a longer tail moment, and a larger tail, even more so than the difference in wing area. I think just those two things alone might make a bigger difference than the swept LE. I guess sweeping the LE also allows the flap taper to be more gradual, and still giving the desired root:tip ratio.

The Oriental Plus is a completely different design for the RoJett .40 on a pipe.  It is around 610 sq. in. with a better airfoil and yes, a tapered wing.  It is a nice flying airplane, but after using it for about two years I removed the RoJett and installed an OS 46LA.  The weight shift from removing the pipe and a heavier engine allowed me to remove the ballast in the nose that was needed for balance.  The extra power made it a lot better above 45 deg. also.  It was passed along to Rod Claus and as far as I know it is still going.  I know he had it in Phoenix for awhile.

The picture above was taken at our contest in June of I think 2007.  Dee happened to be in town and showed up.  He was tickled to see all of the Orientals and chuckled at the fact I painted mine to replicate his original.  Three of them are mine.  Dee is holding my original classic and am holding my profile and O Plus.  Keith Varley on the right hand end of the picture is holding his classic and Oriental Plus.

The kit put out by RSM is nice and not a difficult build.  I recommend it to anyone.

I looked it up.  The photo was taken in 2006.  I had just retired and left for a one month trip in our motorhome to Alaska shortly after the contest.

The original Oriental is one of the most forgiving flying aircraft I have ever flown, as well as all variations of it. Have fun with any of them!
