Of the 10 there are no four strokes.  The others are even split 5 electric, 5 IC.  The remainder were all IC.

Pretty nasty little storm came through.  Power out on hotel alley about 3:30 and still out now at 7:00.  It layed off enough so now some are venturing back out for practice.  Richard, Orestes, Josias, and Joe are out.  Sparky, Ron O'Toole and Darrell Harven are out helping?

Some of the other judges, Bob Gieseke, Curt Contrata, Gary McClellan are on circle #3 Mark Overwire and I can't remember the rest.
Perfect weather.

Alas,

My current "US dream team" for FAI pleasing flying appears to have abandoned the lists this year.  Mssrs. Moon, Barry and Buck are all among the missing.  Derek is flying "tons" better than he did in Hungary three years ago,  Doug has the whole thing really figured out and Brett has been my personal choice for an FAI contender type for years.  I've never done well myself at these affairs but these three show me the sort of precision and style that has beaten me every time I have competed.  Maybe if if I tout them loud enuff...oh, wait...it's too late.

Not to worry, we will get a fine team as a result of this weekend's competition.  Lot's of talented fliers with the capability of doing well.  I'm just disappointed these three gentlemen were unable to join the fray.

Ted

OK, before I go, here's my "wag" based on who's there.  Orestes is a lock based on past performance.  Howard and Matt, if they're on, have what it takes.  My dark horse is Joe Gilbert who showed me a ton of good stuff at our Nats.  Frank could also finally earn a well deserved trip across the waves; if he puts all his good stuff together in enough flights he could be a factor.  Is the Colonel actually competing?  What are the odds of the Bearcat living another year if he should make the team?

Best of luck to everybody.  Wish I still had the energy and the right stuff.

Ooops. Forgot Bob McDonald who's flown well for as long as I've watched him.  If he doesn't get "official flight nerves" he could be there too.

Hmmm.  So much for picking the top three.  What have I got so far,  six?  seven?

OK,  so I didn't see the results of qualifying  were already posted before I drank wine and typed the two above.  I think my picks are all in the mix so I'll stick with them.  Going to be quite a shoot out it looks like.

He's using the same pretty plane he had at Nats.  Great triangles. I see a little more handle movement from Kenny than most.  He's got about 5" handle spacing so he's got the throws pretty slow in the plane.
