Suction / Uniflow Tank
« on: November 06, 2013, 05:15:49 AM »
Years ago I seem to remember that Big Jim Greenaway was suggesting that a custom tank that used "suction / Uniflow" .

Was it a combination of Uniflow and standard venting?

Did it allow a slight speed up during the flight?

I remember seeing tanks with 4 or 5 tubes exiting?

Thanks

All uniflo tanks are designed for suction feed although many people use muffler pressure to the uniflo vent. I use a standard tank with muffler presure on the overflow vent.

It's possible to move the uniflow vent laterally to cause it to operate at a constant pressure for some fraction of the tank, and reducing pressure afterwards.

Thanks Brett..... I think that is what it was....

It can made adjustable, with telescoping tubing and a silicone tube to seal the interface. I think I saw this in an old Air Trails/MAN "Hints and Kinks" page from the early 50's.
