Out Flying the SIG Primary Force with Keith Sandberg
« on: March 19, 2015, 07:50:01 AM »
That Primary Force needs to come back to the market)))))  I want one.
What a smooth flying plane. Keith brought his out to the field and let me fly it too.
This was on mighty fine ARF Control Line airplane.
Powered by an OS .30 four stroke.
Fun day at the field as we flew several planes.

Get a hold of Mikey Pratt the designer and get one of his short kits.   I still have mine, even though the dogs did a number on the covering.   The best flying plane I have.

I have written them a note begging for that. Perhaps we should start a Campaign to bring it back. Great to hear that you did so well with it. Fun to fly that plane.

I also asked Pratt when he was at our meeting a couple of months ago.  Said he had something 'in the works' for the Primary Force so, 'stand by'.

My kid, then as a 14 year old, beat me and every other beginner pilot at the 2006 Sig contest with his Brodak 40-powered Primary Force.

Another vote here for SIG to bring back the ARF Primary Force. Overall it was the best ARF out there during the short time they offered it, a quick building and very competitive design.

If SIG is looking for more sales, they need more offerings. y1

Hi Shurg,
Well I'm really glad you like the P Force.  The short kit should be done in the next month or so.  I'm assembling the proof model from the laser cutter just to make sure everything fits as it should.

In a edition, the E Force is almost ready to fly and plans are finished.  The E Force is slightly smaller at 440 sq,s than the P Force and can be built either, electric or glow.  The FP .20 or LA .25 should be perfect for it.  Hopefully you can see it the next meeting or at the field.

If you like the P Force, you are really going to like the P Force XL (it's a killer).

Shut,
The short kit of the P Force contains the following laser cut parts,

Wing Ribs,
Fuselage.
Stabilizer.
Elevators.
Wing Spar.
Fin & Rudder.
Plywood Doublers.
Adjustable lead-out guide.
Tip weight box.
Cad Drawn plans (scratch builders sheet are sold separately).
Instruction book.

Not included with the short kit are wing sheeting, and stick balsa, maple motor mounts, landing gear & wheels, bell- crank & lead-out cables, pushrod, and control horns.

The price for the P Force kit is $80.00 plus shipping.  As you can see' it has all the major parts without hardware, sheeting and balsa stick wood.  There will also be an electric conversion sheet for the P Force when that is finished.

Mikey,

I do hope the P Force XL is going to be the first one we built on the Chip' wing with the OS .32. Mine has a piped Randy Tiger in it now, but it's getting a little ragged!

The P-Force I built some time ago was dead on.  It started out with Fox 35 stunt and flew great.   Change to LA 25 and it still flew better than the pilot on the handle.   Mikey, put the old DOC on the list as I would like another one and maybe finish a little lighter.

I also have flown Keith's Force and was impressed with how easy it flew. This would be a good ARF for SIG to bring back.

The Primary Force would be a great plane for Sig to come out with again. I believe they sold every one they put in a box and there is still a huge demand for them. Not that Mikes kit would be bad if it comes out, but any kit is going to be far more expensive to build and take more then the 4 or 5 hours to assemble that this one requires. Count me in for a couple

Hi Ward,
What's up Buddy!  Yea, you are really going to love the P F XL at 640 squares with geodetic wing construction and just over 42 ounces.  Mine will have an LA .46 or a ST .51 not really sure yet but leaning towards the LA.  I've done a bunch of things that are different on this design just to make it even better than the P Force.  It's been a blast designing it and can't wait to fly and see how she goes (I'm sure it will be killer because bigger is always better).

Mikey

Hi Keith,
I hope Sig will do just that.  But they have to do what makes them money and r/c kits make more money.  Simple as that!  The P Force can be built in a week of evenings and if covered with film, it is flying pretty quick as well.  The short kit version builds up about 4 to 8 ounces lighter.  And that make a difference when it comes to flight performance giving it a snappy turn.  As far as costs go, I doubt it will be any more expensive than an ARF to build a short kit.  If it does, then that's ok, because you can say with pride I built it.

See you soon,
Mikey

I hope Sig will do just that.

 Me too.

I'm not too much of an ARF fan, but the Sig P-Force is one I'd buy again in a heartbeat. The one shown in Shug's video above is an example that I won in one of our club raffles. I brought it home and had it put together and ready to fly in just two short evenings of work. About the only change I made to it was adding the Sig Fazer L/G. I flew it for a season and then passed it on to Keith. I'm still wondering why. ???

Mikey's version would be a very nice offering to see as well, but I bet you'd see a LOT more Sig ARF'S out on the flight lines. y1

Hi Bud,
I haven't thought about that at all, maybe I should take a page from Walters play book and make a pre-order list.  As it stands right now, the P Force will be 1st, and the E Force 2nd and then the P Force XL when it is ready.

I will build it. It's gonna be really difficult to find me with an ARF. I know every bit of my airplane!

Uncle Mickey has designed several great stunt ships. I'm interested in a few of his less known efforts. Mikey, what's happening with your Stunt wing designs?

I still have the file for one of your earliest efforts, but before building, I'd like to build to your latest effort. #^

Hey Big John,
How are you my old friend?  The Delta Force has started to sell quite well.  I didn't know it would be so well received.  Must be a bunch weirdos like me that like this oddball stuff (LOL).  That model has been fun to design, built, and fly.  The electric version still impresses me when George lets me fly it (I tell him it still needs more trimming and he lets me fly it) y1

Mine has the LA .46 and has a ton of fuel through it.  It still looks good and flies even better than when it was new.  After a bunch of engine swaps, tank, and adding trike gear to mine.  We added conventional gear to George's Delta Force and that looks really awesome in the air and lands like a dream, no more wobbling like a drunk duck with the mono-wheel.  The plans are available for the electric version.  It's a simple matter to convert it glow by adding maple mounts.

What are you working on now?  Something way different I hope!  Or did Gordy make you change your ways (LOL)????

Mikey

Hi Shug,
Wow, I'm glad you found one.  I've assembled at least four of the ARF's for friends and they all flew very well.  What are going to power it with?  A Brodak .40 would be a good choice as well as the LA .25.  The OS .30 four stroke like Keith's another good option.   Good luck and I hope to see it fly at the field.

Later,
Mikey
