Non Foaming CA Activator
« on: May 19, 2014, 02:15:51 PM »
Has anyone found a CA accelerator/Activator that will not foam up and harden when sprayed on CA?

Thanks

Mike

I use the Hot Stuff aerosol activator. It will foam the CA if applied too heavy but it is much easier to control than the old spray pump type. I think most brands of CA make the aerosol activator now.

Stay away from the kickers.
Let the CA's cure at their own pace. So it will take a few minutes or so longer.
You will have a much stronger bond.

Thank you Tony.  I did not realize the kicker weakened the joint.

Rubbing alcohol will kick CA without foaming, but the CA will blush heavily (white, soft residue).  Notably slower than other kickers I have used, but much faster than not using a kicker at all.  At $1 per pint from the local drug store it is also notably cheaper than any other kicker I have used.  I have noticed no difference between the 70% and the 99%.

No I don't go through THAT much, I decant into a small fine mist spray bottle, and the stock bottle gets used as rubbing alcohol.

The joint remains stronger than the wood I am bonding so I am satisfied.
