My Thundergazer!!  Thanks to the weather and other circumstances, it looks like the maiden flight will occur at the fly-in.

Are the circles that expert flys in smooth enough for a beam wing airplane with wing gear and wheel pants? Also what is the address to the field? For my GPS

Robert,

The expert circle has a curved concrete takeoff strip, plenty long ,  the grass is well maintained , close cut all week, should be no problem ,

The full donut circle that scale and perky uses is open for practice most days too , but not when the circle has a event going

And please note that they are "TAKE OFF" pads and not landing strips. I landed on one last year during a practice flight and the plane rolled out the end and where the grass and pad meet is a nice little edge where my wheel pants stopped and the plane kept on going. Ripped my LG off and the wheel pants did a great job of punching two crisp holes in the bottom of my wing.  HB~>

Spent that night with a bottle of CA and a roll of clear packaging tape repairing my plane in the hotel room or contest flights the next day.

I just read this on the brochure:

All Scale & Expert will be flown off of asphalt donut
All others will be flown off grass. Have grass gear

This would lead me to believe expert Stunt is on that donut at the top of the hill. Am I wrong?

If true it could mean a lot more work for the photographers. No easy running back and forth between the expert and advanced circles or doing a quick jog over to the beginner and intermediate circles. Hey, I probably need the exercise anyhow.

Elwyn needs a set of skates or a least steal an official's golf cart. He takes some great photos but is just wore out at the end of the week. He is one of the hardest working guys there.

Good Luck Elwyn.

PS - I hope you get a shot of Yeah Baby going over the top of the circle in a wing over!

The Expert flyers like the better wind conditions of the top of the hill grass circle over the full asphalted donut.

There is probably too much time spent on the computer in the evening which often results in an energy crisis by the following afternoon. As long as I don't spend too much time in a nice slouch-able chair editing photos I should do OK. Will you be flying in Intermediate? I'll try and get you a few pics.
