I had a chance to spend some time at Brodak's this past weekend to see what's new and hot.  j1

New - two additions to the warbird series: P-51 and Yak 9. Both are .19 to .35 size and ideal for the new Brodak .25. The Yak in the photo weighs around 26 ounces. The Mustang is still being painted - it should be ready when I visit again in a few weeks.

More new - a newer version of the Baby Clown. This one is set up for beam mount  engine only, exactly like the larger profiles. It will be perfect for the new Brodak .049 MK II. I will install the .049 MK II and do a product review.  ;D

There is a new OTS bird in process, soon to be released. Also, an electric ARF should soon appear.

I will publish as details become available.

AND, my Cardinette ARF prototype arrived!!! I brought it home for evaluation. After a few corrections it will go back to the manufacturers for production. 

The Cardinette will be a perfect platform for the Brodak .25. In the right hands, it's a very capable performer and can keep up with the larger planes.  y1

And, YES, a prototype of a new LARGE engine will be here soon.

Oh. I am in need. Darn Yak 9, my childhood fox 35 icon, my first BIG plane. Why'd John have to do that. I am lusting for a Yak 9 Sterling knock off. No doubt it's updated. Light wood. Nylon control horns. Geez. Way to sexy. Excuse me. Time for a cold shower. Also will walk off my lust at the gym, doing the treadmill. Thinking I'm young again...

Bob,  haven't used the land line yet to talk to you,  but, am anxious for the Cardinette.   That Yak 9 brings back memories of the old Sterling kit with a McCoy Redhead 35 that I wore out flying.  You haven't mentioned the new Original Magician kit, or I missed it somewhere.  I picked one up from Bob Brookins in Tulsa this past weekend.  Needless to say while Emmy was taking her shower I had the kit spread out on the bed.  The box weighs more than the contents.  Anyway typical Brodak layout for kits.  Sorry Walter, but, your kit is so lucious to build.  May build it anyway so Emmy and I can have twin airplanes.  Anyway keep us updated on progress.  DOC Holliday

Well, Dennis, to really rub the salt, you are correct. Nylon horns and bellcrank, super light and straight wood, and, we just passed a Philly-Flyer law: You MUST but both kits, fly one with the Fox .35, the other with the Brodak .25.

Forget the treadmill, RUN down to the hobby shop and buy them!!

Hopefully it'll be dual ball bearings, rear exhaust and feather light. Not just a side exhaust 'Tigre clone.  Got those already.

Capable of running piped or muffled would be great, too.

Unless I am mistaken, the second P-51 released is the old Sterling kit, updated.  It was a "D" model and about identical to the Yak shown here.

Projected price I heard was around 150, don't think we are going to get a PA/RO 61 clone for that but a ST 60 clone at that price would be great.

Jose Modesto and I can certainly tell you about that  one. I built well over a half a dozen of those things. I used a straight trailing edge on them with flaps. 

Ran mostly Johnson's and Enyas.  With a straight trailing and flaps they would leave the Mustang in the dust, ( built a bunch of those too).

I have always been curious about the Os Max 40 surpass. Maybe this would be a good time to revisit and old friend!

I thought about putting the 40 Surpass in the "new" Yak 9. Probably would fly about the same as the old hot Johnson Combat\Stunt  Fox Combat and Enya 35's we used to use.

You know Bob, I was just looking at the Small 3-View of the Yak on the old Sterling Plan, last week.   I had 2 or maybe 3 of these a long time ago; all were powered by Fox .35's   I was looking to maybe, blowing the views up and making a 54" Profile version.   I have extra rib sets that would make a close Yak wing.   The little Yak, well, I just might have to put an old McCoy in one of those and relive yesterday.

Double kit would be a great idea!! I see I am not the only one here with some serious memories of the Sterling Mustang\Yak.  I just can't believe how many of those things I built!!

I have my Surpass .40 in a 58 ounce Euclid and it's almost too much power. I would guess the output to be close to that of an ST .46.

I have flown my Sterling Mustang with a SAITO .30 and an Surpass .26 - the .26 was perfect.

A DOUBLE kit - now, there's an idea!!!

I'll like it but any of you who are seriously interested should also suggest it to John.

You are absolutely correct Bob.  I was not suggesting the perfect engine which you absolutely nailed, I was suggesting the modern day equivalent of a; Fox 36x combat\Supertigre 35 combat\Johnson Stunt\Combat\Enya 35 big venturi combination which Jose and I grew up flying and was totally inappropriate,grossly overpowered,outrageously paired, and a hell-of-a-lot of fun. y1

As far as I know, the Brodak .15 will not happen in the near future.   n1

If anything, the .60 will take precedence but that will happen only after the .049,  .25 and .40 demands have been met.

John's goal is to satisfy his customers and at this point, the present production engines are priority.   y1

Garf - the .15 should be removed form the site - soon. y1

We will wait until the .60 is here and we can evaluate it before placing it on the site - because the manufacturer is busy making .049s, .25s and .40 to fill present needs, the .60 will not be here for a while.

BUT, I can just about guarantee that it will be worth the wait. j1 j1

Steve - the now OTS bird is the All American.

For competition, the Strega should be available before Christmas.
