Dremel Cordless Rotary Tool
« on: January 27, 2011, 03:06:53 PM »
I have 4 Dremel rotaries dedicated to various jobs but they are all corded and have never used a cordless. Need something I can use to polish gun parts while watching TV in the evening. So is the Dremel Cordless worth buying?

Should have said... If you have one what model?
If I buy one it will be the 8200 12 volt model.

I've had several over the years, the first one I got in a raffle. After using it I got hooked, and with the better batteries thse days they're actually practical now. I'm on my 3rd.

I have the one shaped like a "T" and it is the one I always use. Works great! Runs for a good while too.Don't have the model# handy ....

Hi Bob,
I can highly recommend the lithium-ion powered models, I have two model 8000 10.8 v units and use them all the time and have been doing so for four years now. The model 8200 should even be better, you won't be disappointed.

I bought a Stylus last year and think it's great. Light, powerful, good stall characteristics—my first choice when I need one. It does not fit in the router table or the pedestal drill/workstation but I have a 395 for that. The model number for the 230 volt version in Oz is 1100. I would guess that a similar number will be used for the 110 v version.

Bob:

I purchased the 8200 a few months ago and have not used my corded Dremels since.  It has plenty of power and the battery life is excellent.  I had planned to buy a spare battery but found it not needed.

HI Bob,

Mine is the "MultiPro" 7.2V Model 770T2.  I got it several years ago, and love it.  It has only "low" and "hi" settings, but that has been good for me.  I have no clue as to what "type" battery it has.  Probably just an old NiCad.  I have used it a ton, and the battery is getting where it needs recharging more frequently now.  I like to get one more battery, and maybe they have a "better" battery that will work. ???

I like it, though, and tend to use it more than the corded one I have!

Great input, thanks Gang..

Funny, posted more or less the same question on a gun forum and some guy I don't even know said "I have one I haven't used I'll send it to you if you will send me your address" Wow! couldn't turn down an offer like that, don't know what model it might be but doesn't really matter.

Cordless tools didn't get very many good comments like they did here but think most over on that forum do not have the same skill set as modelers  ;D
