There's a correction in Doug Moon's scores in Expert on Sunday. His Appearance Points were inadvertently omitted so his scores are eighteen points more than those shown on the scoreboard photo. His high of 609 moves him ahead of Richard Oliver's high of 606, therefore Dougie is 1st and RO is 2nd.
Also, this changes the point totals for the District VIII Perpetual Trophy to a tie between RO and Andy Stokey. Rather than splitting the coveted eagle down the middle, as some have suggested, or "thumb wrestling", or even tossing objects into trash cans at farther and farther distances as is the practice at the Ringmaster Roundup, each flyer will have custody of the trophy for half a year, to admire, dust, and cherish in his own home. Congratulations Richard and Andy!
The Dallas Model Aircraft Association has kept this contest going for at least twenty years that I've been a member, and we have trophies dating back to 1953, we have no difficulty meeting the AMA "Traditional" definition for a contest. Our contestants and visitors work alongside us as hard as we do, setting up canopies, banners, providing food, judging, tabulating, running scores, counting laps, timing and scoring racing, and then, when it is over, they help tear it all down and store it for next time. Come to think of it, darn near all our visitors are DMAA members, the sun rarely sets over the DMAA organization, to paraphrase a phrase...
Heartfelt, huge, "Thank youse" to all,
