2020 World Championships
« on: January 12, 2020, 07:23:03 PM »
Hello Everyone!  For those of you who haven’t heard I have been voted to be the Team Manager for the 2020 F2 Team that will be going to Poland in August.  This is my first time as the Team Manager and I am very honored to have been chosen.

I am not a very “techy” person but I have set up a very basic facebook group called 2020 USA F2 Team.  I will be posting information that I get from the organizers along the way.

If you are interested in traveling with the team to Poland and would like to sign up as a Supporter you can find that document posted on this group page.

If you are not interested in traveling to Poland with the team but you would like to help the team out with a donation you can do so by sending a check made out to AMA / Note on check:  for F2 USA Team 2020.  The address that you would mail it to is:

AMA
Attn:  Colleen Pierce
5151 East Memorial Drive
Muncie, IN   47302

All donations are tax deductible.

If you have any questions, please email me at blschuette@cox.net.  Thanks.

Congratulations Brenda!  While over there maybe you can sew the seeds about a return to the U. S. in a cycle or two.

Dear Brenda,
Welcome in community of TMs!  H^^
Włoclawek was super happening in 2014, this year will be a little bit easier task for TMs, since the different events won't be so far to each other like in '14.
Greetings: Istvan  (TM of Hungary '90 - '92 - '00 - '02 - '14 - '18)

Looks like F2D will still be on the far side of the field, and if the runway is active as it was last time it is a long way around to get to it.

Went to the KCRC swap meet today and seen Brenda sitting at a table asking for donations to the F@ Control Line Team.  The jar was was almost full when I throwed a small pittance into it.  Also picked up another CL kit I don't need but I couldn't resist. D>K

Some World Cup Free Flight contests have already been postponed until later in the year, due to the Corona Virus paranoia. Just today, I read that Formula 1 auto racing is being considered by some as a major way to spread the covid-19 virus. Paranoia is everywhere.    :-[  Steve

Samuel and Emma's school was closed for sanitizing Friday and Monday due to the first confirmed case in Williamson County TN. They were scheduled to resume classes today. At 5am this morning we got an automated call that classes would not resume due to an adult school worker who tested positive for Covid over the weekend. Not sure how the rest of the week will play out but I'm glad to see the school board taking steps and being proactive. Anybody got any toilet paper for sale? #^

Just go out and buy what you need, assuming that the stores will have it in stock. You might want to call and ask. I went to Safeway yesterday, but did not check the TP aisle. I got everything I went to get. Wash your hands after you get home. We went out to dinner Sunday night. Service was good, and there was no crowd. The freeways are relatively clear and traffic is moving way better than the usual cluster. If  you cough or sneeze, you will get evil glares....  LL~ Steve

No running around, scrambling here. I'm not a crazy prepper or anything like that, but we already have adequate emergency preparedness supplies on hand. I'll know things are bad if I start getting into the freeze dried food.  LL~

As long as our elderly teams stays healthy, we're good? Having had surgery (appendix, 2001-ish and three skin cancer surgeries since), I recall asking why it was so cold in the OR. They said it was to impede the growth of germs. Did not say viruses, however. Wife had a mamo gram scheduled for last Friday and cancelled it early in the week. Meanwhile, our brilliant Governor said "old people should stay home", or something to that effect.

We are remodeling, so when that's over, the taxes and home insurance are paid (all in April, for Igor's info), I'll see if there's a Benjamin leftover for a CL team donation.   y1 Steve

It doesn’t take someone as capable as you to do the math here. If this virus is not contained, millions of American citizens and residents could die. Compared to an average of 42,000 annual deaths from Flu.
How about some compassion here for those who have lost loved ones and friends to this pathogen.

It doesn’t take someone as capable as you to do the math here. If this virus is not contained, between 3 and 15 million American citizens and residents will die. Compared to an average of 42,000 annual deaths from Flu.

The virus will not be contained, any more than any other previous virus has been contained. We will see, I think we will find your numbers are grossly inflated - scare-story stuff. In this case, it's particular bullshit because there are a bunch of US politicians hoping for a disaster and pulling for american deaths so they can win an election.

I would also note that when this was first declared a "public health emergency" by the president - on JANUARY 31, six weeks ago - it was barely noted, and the few references were to the declaration that his travel ban from China was "racist" and "a distraction" and - because that was the day the Senate was voting to impeach him!!!   Every previous attempt to protect the country from illegals was screeched at on high as "racist" and proved he and everyone who supported him as a "white supremecist" . Not one person on the left had done one damn thing about it, they were too busy dicking around with an utterly absurd political kabuki play that was metaphysically certain to fail.

Now, those same people are ripping him for "not doing enough" and failing to note that the President has limited powers to do anything - congress writes laws, the senate votes on them, and the President signs or vetos, and then executes those laws. He isn't supposed to just make up stuff from whole cloth. We operated that way *during the Civil War*, and the few attempts to dodge that process were soundly rebuffed. A few years back, SARS (which a far higher mortality/morbidity rate) came and went with no real comment and no real problem in the USA.  Now there's a crisis, everybody wants unilateral action. Todays travel ban from Europe is currently being ripped as a "political stunt".

It's either dictatorship, or not.  Trump has been trying to control influxes of illegal immigrants from Day one, the left fought him tooth and nail every inch of the way. Now, all of the sudden, we round up illegals and put them in internment camps?   What the f*ck is it that everybody wants?

Panicking and running around like chickens with our heads cut off, and encouraging others to do the same , is the *very worst thing you could possibly do*.

    Brett

PS: and this:

Quote
How about some compassion here for those who have lost loved ones and friends to this pathogen.

Good question, who doesn't have compassion?  What about everyone else whose life has been affected by unrestricted illegal immigration"? What about compassion for Kate Steinle? My whole point is that absolutely no one on the left *gave one flying rat's ass* about any of this stuff or had any compassion for US citizens and residents until about two weeks ago, when they could do an abrupt 180, contradict everything they have every complained about unremittingly for the last 3.5 years,  and are now complaining about "Trump doing nothing" instead of "Trump is Hitler".

Is it a tragedy when people die? Of course, who said it wasn't? Is it a particular tragedy when people die due to politics? Even more so, but if so, where was the compassion a month ago, when no one gave a sh*t about this at all and Trump was a racist and Adolf Hitler Jr for even suggesting we do something about it?  Selective compassion?  *This sort of situation is exactly and precisely the sort of think that Trump was warning you all about, and trying to prevent*. Again, he was *absolutely correct about this and has been since 2014*.

100% correct.

As I sit here and watch the news this morning,  I feel my anger and blood pressure going up. All this so called emergency has proven,  is that at least 50% of this country shouldn't be allowed to vote. They are far too stupid to make rational decisions.

Actually, I might be able to - this is a cross-post from another message board (where the board op was praising the Communist Chinese Government for their strong measures to prevent disease(!)):

This is not solely a political problem or issue - it's a sociological issue. When everyone is safe and warm, they tend to rail against any form of authority, and can find all sorts of "facsim" (a term which virtually no one actually understands) in the most innocuous act. The instant even a minor threat to their safety, like a bad flu, comes along, they panic, and then ask for and demand the most draconian authoritarian measures.

I think part of the issue is that close to two generations have grown up with, effectively, no realistic threat to their lives or livelihood in any way. For some reason, lacking any real challenges or strife, people have to invent them, with one hysterically overblown "crisis" that is unique in the history of humanity (and for some of them, claimed to be unique in the life of the entire planet) after another. When one of them fails to pan out, they invent another one. This flu seems to fit their model of apocalyptic doom, which is obviously isn't, so it triggered all their pent-up survival instinct and now they are beating down the door of the authorities, begging everyone to tell them what to do, no matter how draconian/illegal/unconstitutional.

Brett, try this on for size. Robert Heinlein in his 1948 novel starship trooper suggested that only veterans or those are willing to put their ass on the line for the nation be allowed to vote.  Today he is called a fascist for putting that in print.

I'm waiting for those hu-mons to say that corona virus is because of "Global Warming". Cannot believe they have yet to link the two. Total hogwash.

Remember the swine flu in 2009-10

USA Swine Flu infections below,  .....

CDC estimates that between 43 million and 89 million cases of 2009 H1N1 occurred between April 2009 and 10 April 2010. The mid-level in this range is about 61 million people infected with 2009 H1N1.
CDC estimates that between about 195,000 and 403,000 H1N1-related hospitalizations occurred between April 2009 and 10 April 2010. The mid-level in this range is about 274,000 2009 H1N1-related hospitalizations.
CDC estimates that between about 8,870 and 18,300 2009 H1N1-related deaths occurred between April 2009 and 10 April 2010. The mid-level in this range is about 12,470 2009 H1N1-related deaths.

so ... 60M US infected .... 300K hospitalizations .... 12.5K deaths ..... and we barely remember it ........ these are USA numbers only not world wide ...

Thanks Brett, it's very refreshing to hear some common sense and logic, extremely hard to find anywhere right now. Also, I agree with your entire analysis of the "pandemic".

 Here's one...

While having lunch today at the KFC just down the street from work I watched a 70-ish year old woman actually wash her hands at the soda dispenser. With no qualms whatsoever she stepped up to it, held in the "water" selector to full-on for about 20 seconds while writhing her hands together under it the whole time. Then she shook them off and grabbed a bunch of napkins out of the dispenser and finished drying. Apparently she was too paranoid to use the restroom (and SOAP) that she strolled right by at the entrance.
Narrowly averting disaster since 1964!

Seems a bit much to me.     If nothing else, it would leave me out, too, and many of my generation - who, due to prior generation's success at defense, haven't needed to sign up for a widespread general war since 1945. I am quite satisfied with my contributions to our national defense.

While I certainly honor and am immensely grateful for you and others who were willing/able to put their lives on the line for the rest of us, the point was to support our system of government and the American people - and not just the ones that agree with you. Just like the first and second amendments - you have unprecedented freedom of action and personal liberty, which also means every random moron has the same. You have to put up with racists/anti-semites/communists/socialists/globalists, etc,  and imbeciles of every stripe, that's part of the cost.

Of course, calling someone a facist means almost nothing anymore - because the people who reflexively use that line of reasoning are so stupid, and ignorant - since they have *absolutely no idea what it means*, and have somehow convinced themselves it is synonymous with "conservative". When in actual fact, it's a form of socialism - not quite communism, but aside from who owns the businesses, has exactly the same goals and always, inevitably,  ends up as a totalitarian police state. There is nothing more incompatible with the concepts of personal liberty and self-government than *a totalitarian dictatorship", it is utterly inconceivable that a someone who believes in the founding principles of the United States could support facism.

I am perfectly satisfied with the system as designed, and if someone wants to change it, there's a system for that, too. These systems have proven the most successful and beneficial in human history.   I do object to throwing out every precept we have because some people are going to get sick, and a few people are going to die. The idiots were calling Trump a dictator every chance they got - until about two weeks ago, when they suddenly decided he wasn't *enough* of a dictator. While the people who are charged with setting policy and passing laws were having a left-wing circle jerk that was both pointless and doomed to failure. Both extremes are ridiculous and the American public deserves much, much better.

Yes they are. This is their "salvation" (they hope) in this election year. As it stands their only possible candidates are a 78yo communist revolutionary with a known heart condition, and a 77yo only slightly less radical progressive liberal who is obviously suffering from dementia. In other words, they know they are going to get their asses handed to them unless something else happens. Then came Covid-19.  They seized this as a means to hijack the steamin economy, which they had no counter to, and to hijack the public perception of the Presidents competence in dealing with unexpected crisis. Their lackeys in the media are all too happy to help with this.
It's all just a furtherance of the tantrum the left has been throwing for over 3 years now. And we are left to deal with it all.

It's worse than that. It's not about winning this election, it's getting people comfortable with, or even demand, strong government control of individual lives (in the name of "safety") and to show that the health care system (that they have systematically destroyed) must be replaced with socialized medicine. They have to spin up a panic, and then they can swoop in as your saviors. They even got churches closed! This situation is a leftist wet dream, expect them to play it to the very hilt. It won't be long before cable news puts up a "death toll counter" in the corners of the screens.

I have seen, already, sly suggestions that, you know, people are putting out less CO2, more people are getting exercise by riding a bike instead of the subway, so maybe this is not so bad. Expect calls for this as the "new normal" - and already, people are talking about being on effective lockdown for 2 years or more.

The is their fondest dream come true!
