I am unfamiliar with anyone in South Dakota,  I am in an active club in Omaha, Nebraska and there is a club in Fargo North Dakota.  Be the two closest that I know of.

Probably too many chipper/shredders as well. That's the first thing that comes to mind when somebody mentions "Fargo".  I'd like to get one, myself.  LL~ Steve

Jim Ricketts, who flew CL racing years ago and served on the speed and racing contest board, lives in Sioux Falls, as far as I know.  Don’t know if he flies anything anymore.  Must have been a challenge to practice racing in Sioux Falls.

Jim Ricketts lived right down the street from us when we lived in Sioux Falls.  I don't know if he's still there, or active.

We've been back in Kansas since about 2008.   Moved to Sioux Falls in 1995, CL was virtually dead when we got there.  There had been a fairly active group there, until something happened.  The only evidence was a run down circle with a fence through the middle of it, and a few lingering traces at the local hobby shop.  There wasn't anyplace a person could get permission to fly.  We flew in a couple of the many city parks, and never got run off.  Only issue was watching for the stray kid, stray dog, etc.  Even without a place to fly without threat of getting run off, the climate up there doesn't really cooperate with CL.

I've been attending the Fargo contests and flying until recently (health problems) with the Skylarks club since 1960. I live 250 miles north of Fargo. They are a great group of enthusiasts with a superb flying site. However, in all those years I have never heard of any C/L activity in SD. YMMV.
