Brodak 25/40 needle valve assembly
« on: April 26, 2010, 05:50:07 AM »
I'd like to know the dimensions of the Brodak NVA used in the B40 and B25 engines (part # BE-1356).

Specifically, the diameter of the spraybar and the distance from the center of the hole in the spraybar to
the attached "nut".

I have a couple of different uses for the ST G34 nva but Tower is out of stock.

Thanks guys.
Chris

HI Chris,

You should try one of Randy's PA NVA.  I used the ST NVA exclusively until I tried his.  The locking cone is MUCH better in usage, and there is no chance for an air leak.  He has them in several different sizes, so I am sure he has one that will fit the Brodak engines.  Several have posted here that they got better outcomes witht he PA NVA on their Brodak .40s.  The locking cone has a nylon (??) insert which means that finger tight will keep the needle from turning.  I haven't really had to tighten mine since I put them in the engines.  Much different than the ST!

Hi Mongo Bill,

Thanks for the recommendation on Randy's PA nva. I certainly will try it when I use it for it's intended purpose!

One of the things I use the ST NVA for though is as a spray bar for my combat engines. There I just remove the needle
and clamp nut, and solder the end closed. So how well that clamp nut and needle work together isn't important. But knowing the position of the hole in the spray bar is.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi there.  It's 1/4" exactly from the "fixed" nut to the holes.  Please note I wrote "holes" cause there are two of them 180 degrees apart from each other.  Hope this helps you. H^^

Thanks Glenn, for both the measurement and the info on the 2x spray bar holes. Sounds like it could work in a pinch but I'd rather avoid it.

Thanks again to Bill, too, for the good info on the PA needle assembly.
