Is AP still producing the Wasp? I thought this engine and parts were as "easy" to get as Norvel parts appear to be (or not to be...that is th...).
If parts are still available, I'd love buy some glow plugs. It's almost time for me to try a Cox .049 Charlie's head with an RC plug!

How many RPM can you afford to lose? The glowhead was developed for small engines for good reason! Get the MECOA glow button and adapter or the one from coxusa.com . I think Merlin went out of business (I would LOVE to be wrong!)
Think S.M.A.L.L. y'all and, it's all good, CL, FF and RC!

Guy's thanks for all the help, MECOA told me that that A P Wasp was made in China, so all interest by me is lost, I am looking for a Cox Medallion .09, again thanks..

While I'm not a fan of Chinese products, I will say that if your passing this engine up, you might want to reconsider. I recall Larry's posts from years back when it was first introduced which is what prompted me to purchase.  While my success wasn't good with the AP Wasp, it was a good engine. I went through two cases due to the bearing wearing out. After some internet reading I discovered I wasn't alone with this. However, I was running this engine not like it was supposed to be run. Hobby People when they were in business offered this engine for $30 and Larry Renger quickly let everyone know it. I like others snapped them up because Norvel was defunct and there was no parts source. I made a adapter for a TD venturi and I ran the AP for 1/2A combat. I was getting some pretty good rpm's from the engine.

There was no parts support for this engine. The engine was distributed through Global Hobby Distributors and at one time you could've obtained parts for the engine assuming you could afford to wait for the slow boat from China.  While this engine isn't a Norvel, it's a close second and it does well. If your plans are to use it for stunt, you might just be impressed provided you don't try and run the engine like a Cox engine. It wants to rev and you need to prop it accordingly.

Yes, although the Wasp has a bronze crank bushing it is more subject to wear than most other small engines. Doesn’t make sense, but there it is. I have worn out 5 of them finding it out! I thought it would be the best of the bunch.

Anyway, now I run at least 22% oil, and pray a lot. As long as they last they run great. I just hope Norvel stay available and the parts remain pretty much interchangeable.

Or fly electric and the heck with it.
