While on my quest to find more Paul Walker BADNEWS photos....I ran across this great looking Spitfirish' Eliptical model of yours in the Pampers gallery?
Gads..what a beautiful CLPA ship??? What not to love about wings like these?
Love that meller yeller Cobra in flight shot!

Oh...yeh?
Here is one of Paul BADNEWS..(OR IS THIS N IMPACT?.....similar to the one that Paul even let me test ride a very very long time ago. (However that model I think sported a HOT PINK fuselage..(which had faded badly to a purty UNDERPANTY PINK....after being exposed to the hot NW summer sunshine?

(I will never forget how AMAZING that BADNEWS  handled the square 8's and vertical 8 without slowin down or speeeeeeeeeeding up on that rather windy day....about a million years ago?
(that was the day...I yanked that old OS 35 out of the front end of my old Chipmunk FOREVER!)

(If Paul is lurking....Although I'll never forget flying that amazing  model of yours...I can't remember if that model was a BADNEWS...or an IMPACT? (daaa....sorry,paint fume brain damage)

SHultzie,,
if I am not mistaken the ellipticall plane of Randys is the predecesor to the one I have of his, ,the Freelancer ( incidently, a video game on the computer that Randy used to play a lot)
Maybe Randy has a picture of it somewhere, I dont have one at work ......
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!

That elliptical plane was based loosely on Mike McHenry's re-work of a Novi IV. About all I kept was the wing planform ... sort of. I liked the idea of an elliptical racer. I don't have a picture of the plane Mark has right at my fingertips. But it was an evolution of the one pictured above. Number 3 is on the board right now.

The picture of Paul's plane is a later Impact. Built after the Pink and Chartruse one.

The Cobra is now white.   ;D

Here are a couple of pictures of Tango Red and Tango Red II (called Freelancer - gotta love Chris Roberts)

Oh, and here's the Cobra all repainted (after it's diet and control fix)

Don,

And just to drive you nuts, here's a picture I took at a contest at Boeing west parking lot about 20 years ago. Recognize the plane?

He had totalled his last stunt job just before that contest...and even took that NOVI 4 it to the nats that year.
That  old unfinished NOVI 4 (that I even had the full V tail finished  and mounted...and  was almost ready for primer....
I WAS MORE THAN DISAPPOINTED that they wuzzzied out and got rid of the V tail...and opt'd for a more traditional look with a stab...but even worse yet!!! ~^ ~^
NAMED IT "STING" N' THEN PAINTED IT WITH SLIME YELLER AND WEEENIE GREEN!! LL~ LL~ VD~ VD~ ~^
Even though that model ended with with a ton of extra weight from multi coats of yellow and green paint. I was surprised too see that it actually appeared to fly quite well and went on to win some pretty good senior CLPA events with success that year.

From the moment that I saw Dave Gierke's Novi 4 with that beautiful reflex wing...I had to build one of these...
However due to working long overtime hours at the windtunnel...and a test scheduled right at Nats time. I felt so burnt out...and knowing that I couldn't do justice to such a beautiful Model I put that model on hold.
here is some of my photos of Gierkes Novi that I took at the 69 nats that I couldn't stop thinkin about!
This model of Dave's was truly one beautiful piece of art.

I don't know the kid holding the plane in your picture, but it's the same guy as in my picture only many years later.

Ahhh Ha!
Finally found out why they named my old NOVI 4 the "STING!" However unless a full V tail like my unfinished model showed....it still isn't a "STINGER" like the attached first Sting concept model unless it was a  FULL V tail??? n~
Hummmm? :! :! Hey I wonder how an updated.....ORIGINAL STINGER would fly with a new Impact wing an enlarge fuselage with a new and powerful new modern Electric motor up front?

I would bet that the first STINGER shown here as designed  would have been a pretty good flying model and maybe a great flying classic as first designed? H^^

So Donnie, who is the kid holding the plane in your picture? The name Marty sticks in my mind for some reason, but I'm not sure. I only met him the one time when he was about 20 or 25. Any ideas?

Let me check my old cut-up glue infested Novi plans.  I had his Dad's work number and address written somewhere on either the plans or photos that I gave them of my unfinished model...but I would bet his Dad has  long since huh?
