Looking for an Answer

Hello,
I happen to have "Dixon's" copy of the large Gypsy plans. I have a question about them. They show the wing as having a 55" Span. I always thought the span to be 56" With 28.5 inches inboard and 27.5 Inches outboard.
What the plans show is 28" inboard and 27" Outboard. Which way is correct? I don't have a copy of the Magazine article to know which is correct.
Someone please help!

Jim: I have the Gypsy 46 plans from Flying Models Magazine but not the article. Using my trusty measuring tape I measure the outboard wing at 27 1/2" and the inboard wing 28 1/2" for a total of 56". I would trust these plans more than the other ones you have as I believe Alan Brickhaus worked closely with Jim Silhavy on making them as accurate as possible.

Thanks Pete,
That's what I thought it should be. Now to adjust the plans I have to get the correct wingspan.
Jim Pollock, I guess I should have known.......

Yup Clint, I thought it would be an apprporiate time (March/VSC) to put that one up. Jim: hope you make the Gypsy, one of my favorites, If you get ribs lazar cut somewhere let me know, I'd like to have a set for future reference.

Well,
I have figured out what to do. The Rib spacing is said to be 2 1/16". I checked and 2 1/8" works out perfectly to a 28 1/2" inboard wing. Just use the same spacing on the outboard wing and cut 1/2 of the last rib section out and wa-la you then have a 1 1/16" difference, good enough for make-up work!
