I've clear top coated 9 stunt planes with Dupont Nason 2 part auto clear.

-Dupont Nason Select Clear #496-00
-Activator 483-78
-Or 483-79 High Temp.

Do not spray this stuff in your home. At the least do it in your garage!

Have good ventalation, cover your skin, use a  good paint mask/filter Minimum.

I spray a light coat, mix up more maybe 5 minutes later (6 or so oz) then the 2nd coat I put it on wet. Should have a big time shine after the 2nd coat.

The reason for the light first coat is 2 heavy coats will want to run.

Spray the bottem of the plane first, then the top so that any over spray is on the bottem.

I make painting fixtures to hold the flaps. elevators, rudder etc.

I tried using thinners etc to make a finish that did not need sanding & rubbing out. Non worked well.

I use it straight. I start wet sanding it out the following day. 1000 then 1500 then rub it out.

The cleaner your spray area & plane the better.

Bugs are your enemy. Q-tips & a steady hand are the best bug fix I have found.

Wait about 2 weeks if you can then put a coat of wax on on.

Hey guys, so sorry for the lack of answer from me on this!  I've been really busy with the guitar shop and haven't been on the 'puter for days!  I could easily just say to read the above and it will be the right thing to do, but I want to echo and stress the advice to cover yourself and don't spray this stuff in the home.  I have a HUGE exhaust fan in my shop and always make sure I'm not between the flow to the fan and my spray target as an added precaution.  This stuff is winderful if you follow the rules, but is also dangerous if you don't  I even bought a new mask before using it.  (A kickback from my old Imron days!  Now there's some baaaaaaaad stuff!!)

The manufactors recomend 30 days till you put wax on.

I've found through my limited experience that 2 weeks works.

I've waxed in 1 week. Lucky I guess.
