This is my "mimic", which is a full fuselage version of the famous "Imitation".

It may encourage you to know that there is a fleet of Imitation-based full-fuselage models flying in Northern California most impressively. Larry Wong has a series he calls "Imitation Plus" (featured in numerous photos in Stunt News). I think Larry is on his third generation now, using a PA60 on pipe. Paul Ferrell's new model (currently in Landres at the WC) is Imitation based and built as a group project by Ted and other luminaries in our region. I have a basic Imitation modded to look in profile like a Trivial Pursuit that flies very well, as could be expected. Ted reportedly still regards this as his easiest to trim design. Yours should be a winner with plenty of power!

Hi Mike. I was aware of some of them as I had talked with Ted at a VSC. He gave me his blessing and I darn near kissed his ring.   LL~ LL~ LL~

Ty,
Perhaps a shade of "dusty rose" you know like that sub in that movie way back when?  the color happened when they mix red primer with white primer... I think the official color is Navy Pink HB~>  HB~>  LL~  LL~  LL~

Hey it was good enough for Cary Grant & Tony Curtis!  8)

Ty it's looking great hope to see with color , that's my stumbling block that's why I do them all the same.. My flying buddy has one on the paint stand like yours , and primered  and also with canopy up front. I think you will enjoy this plane Brett flew my Imitation Plus II and liked it , Paul Ferell also flew my Imitation Plus ( P/A 40RE UL )  I transplanted a P/A 61 RE in my Plus II and it's great, I think this winter I will build PlusIII as ECL. y1 #^ #^

Hey Ty, it looks great so far.  I like the rudder as it looks more stylish.  Hope you get a decent engine in this one.  Just kidding as I know from a fact that none of us really had time to really get ready for VSC.  Almost planted the Spit at the NATS, but, with Robert Brookins help got a decent second round.  At least the judges didn't look so scared.  DOC Holliday

PS:What is wrong with pink.  I used to drive a Pink(salmon colored) 64 Ford Fairlane 2Dr on the street and strip for years. jeh

One Year I bought a Nash Rambler station wagon that was pink. Boy did my wife give me a bunch of BS about that. Since then I don't use pink for anything,it's not worth the grief. HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~> HB~> mw~

Hi Ty,

Great talking with you on the phone yesterday!  I just found this thread, and I am impressed.

I have toyed with whether or not to do a full fuselage plane with my set of Imitation wing cores (they are older than one of my son's I think! LL~ ) or just build it as the original profile.  I know it will fly great either way.

Yours looks really good!  And I know that the .51 will be plenty.  Mine flew the old SV 11 at 64 oz., no problem!
