Super Tigre G 21/29 info
« on: August 09, 2010, 11:39:09 AM »
Hello folks, I´m a long time Supertigre fan, and want to know a little bit more about the usage of this engine (ST 29) in the early speed arena.
Any info or comments will be very nice. Pictures or reviews will be fantastic too... ;)
Thanks in advance
Carlo

This is from the early 1960's. The end of the line for "open face" engines before tuned pipes took over.

In general, the G21 series was OK when left stock, but fell apart when users went for more.

With the flanged exhaust, that one David shows should probably be an ABC. I never could get any ABC stuff from ST.

With the iron piston, cutting .040" off the squishband and .040" off the gasket seat made for a nice gain without a terrible price in durability. Wish I could remember what the gain was, but it seems to be erased. I used a K&B .40 venturi turned to fit the ST backplate. Split the collector ring, filled it with epoxy, and put one hole through the venturi...probably .063"...and the ST NV Assy went in. Nice engines! Wish the G.65rv had been as good...it was total crap, at least the first batch, like mine. Ewww...  R%%%% Steve

I agree about the pipe flange.

I had a G15 ABC with the pipe flange, too.  It was a futile attempt to convert exisitng engines to piped use.  It was, by far, the worst G15 I even owned.  By my count I had four G15's, two winners, one OK, and one loser.
