St Louis Speed Contest - April 16-17, 2016

Due to the FAI World Championships being held in May of 2016 the Lafayette Esquadrille will be hosting our Annual Speed contest on April 16-17, 2016 so that the FAI Team can attend. This will also be a warmup for them to get ready for the World Championships.

We will be hosting all of the normal speed events along with Fox 35 speed and Perky speed. Since we have a permanent speed fence the site will be available for test flights and engine tuning on April 15th

Bill Hughes has now cracked 96 MPH with the Fox 35 speed models

John  Moll will be our CD for the contest

Bob Arata, myself and John Moll cleaned off the CL speed fence from all the debris left behind in the December flood but we are getting excited to get some warmer weather so we can get flying again. The flying site survived and just waiting for a good rain to clean off some of the surfaces that have thin layer of mud. We left one fence panel with the debris in the fence so everyone can see just how much debris came thru with the Meramec river.

Keep in mind we moved the speed contest to April 16-17 because the FAI team will be travelling to the World championships in May

Weather is looking awesome for this Sat-Sun speed contest - everything will be flown, all speed events. The Lafayette Esquadrille has been busy getting the mud off the flying circles from our last flood.

winds are predicted to be 11 mph which is low for a speed model with 72 degrees. If you are close to St Louis it will be worth the drive.
