IMPROVE PERKY KIT?
« on: August 15, 2007, 11:34:15 AM »
I understand that the landing gear is to far back for good take-offs and landings and that there is not tnough room for thr fuel tank. We could move the firewall 1/2" forward and correct both problems. Add a 1/2" of wood to all of the parts behind the firewall and leave the front wood alone so that those who want it in the original position can make it that way. The external dementions would remain the same.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

The Tank problem is a height problem. The Engine must run on suction. Mounting the Bellcrank under the wing is ok, but in the wing is better. The LG location as it exits the model is ok. They just need to sweep forward about 2 inches.

Good! No-one seems interested in altering the original design. In a meeting today it was set in stone that we will make the kit as it was made in 1947 with these exceptions: Vintage control line hardware will be added and shown on the plans as Matt Kania would have installed them, parts will be lased cut instead of print wood, and vintage wheels will be included in the kit. The kit will be labeled "60th Anniversary Edition". For those wishing to move the hardware into the wing they can still do it on their own. Some small details need to be worked out and the plans should be at the printer in a couple of weeks.
