In the past, there used to be scale classes that required highly detailed models that took years to build and didn't fly very well. These events included "just plain scale", Precision Scale, Designer Scale, Museum Scale, and F4B. What these events had in common was that they were dominated by two or three highly skilled craftsman and pretty soon nobody else entered and nobody bothered to run contests any more.
Today we have three pretty popular events that minimize building and give 50% weight to flying in two events and 90% in the other. That seems to be working. One problem is the few refugees of the older events that would like to morph Profile, Sport, and Fun into the old Precision Scale.
If they want no go back to the old way, they should just push a movement to resurrect one of the old events. We need to take a good look at the dots in the 17+ proposals and see where they might lead.
