Jimmy LeRoy, Reno Air-race Ace...is gone.
« on: September 13, 2007, 09:39:43 AM »
My condolences and thoughts to Jim, his family, friends, fans and fellow addicted air race colleagues
I found this great photo of his beautiful flyin'machine. What a great stunt or scale project huh?

I found this on the Aviation AV WebFlash daily update.

He will be deeply missed and long remembered.

He always said air show performers never retire...

Three dead at the Reno Air Races this year. Biplane Champion racing plane Rose Peregrine, a Mong highly modified crashed on a test flight, first time pilot Steve Dari killed Tues; Jet Class L-39 wake turbulence over-control recovery crash took Brad Morehouse on Thursday; and Formula One Champion Gary Hubler was lost in yesterday's horrific mid-air on Pylon 1 which Jason Somes managed to get down and survive with badly damaged flight controls and half the stab/elevator torn off as well as no gear. The wreckage carried into the pylon base and hit 4 cars ending up wedged underneath one of them. 2 pylon judges injured.

Whitely, John Calentine and Glen Allison are here too, all safe.

Were leaving the hotel now, pray for a safe show.

Chris...

Edited as the information was inaccurate at the time of the post. No one on the ground was killed and two pylon judges injured slightly.
