Dolittle Tokyo Raiders Anniversary
« on: April 15, 2010, 07:37:00 AM »
Found this item in one of the blogs I read. If you are in the vicinity, it would be worth a trip to see:

This Saturday at least 20 B-25 bombers will come to the Air Force museum in Ohio, and will fly in formation on Sunday, in honor of the Dolittle raiders. There aren't many chances to see this many fly at once. They will stage at Urbana before and after.

See articles and info at the museum's web site

YEP! I B there! #^

Got reservations across from the Museum.
The USAF BAnd is also giving a concert in the evening featuring all BIg Band Music!
Going to have a formation fly-over after the Memorial Service Sunday.

Made a couple of trips there already this year including the R&D Hanger, Presidential Hanger, Restoration Hanger, and Open Cockpit Night.
Way too much for one day's visit fer sure! Information overload!
Got some pics on a DVD if interested. <=

AWESOME WEEKEND!!!!
18 B-25's in one place!!
Only 4 of the Veteran Raiders were physically able to attend. There are only 8 remaining of the 80. YES! I got all their autographs and Stan's who wrote the book "Destination Tokyo".
They were at Urbana on Thurs. & Fri to practice formation flying and giving rides. Sat morning they landed at NMUSAF behind the museum and were on display for all to get up close to. Activities included the flick, "Thirty-Seconds over Tokyo", sit-down dinner with the Raiders, (sold out for two months!), performance of the USAF Band, (all 40's music) SUPER!!!, autograph sessions, formation fly-over the Memorial Service on Sunday. Also visited the Wright Memorial Park /Museum when I saw the line INTO the Museum grounds was more than a mile long on Saturday. So we went to the park (on base) and then drove right on in. Getting OUT was another story!! LL~ LL~
The icing on the cake was having several Waco's, a Stagerwing, and a Citabra fly over us while driving home on the Interstate. YES! Took plenty of pics and a couple videos! y1
Hope to have them on a DVD soon like my other recent visits to the NMUSAF.
