Anyone like to fly scale in Sept?
« on: March 04, 2009, 03:14:45 PM »
Our controline club here in Muncie would like to hold a C/L scale contest in September, maybe the 3rd.weekend. I told them I would post the question and go from there. It would be held at Westside park in Muncie, we have two paved circles. Is anyone interested? I only know of three contest in the mid-west that scale will be flown. We can't grow scale if we don't afford the opportunity to hold/fly the event.

Blessings

Been to your contest before and would do it again. You and I, same turnout as at the scale contest I ran in Columbus, Ohio last year at about that same time.

Normally I would say yes count me in but the 3rd weekend is September is the Broken Arrow scale contest in St louis.  I live in North Alabama so distance is abut right for both.   :'(

PS what are the 3 Mid-west contest you are speaking about?  Nats - ? - ?

John, I just checked the AMA contest calender and the St.Louis scale/stunt contest is the week following, witch would be the 4th weekend. I plane on going to that one myself. As for the other scale contests, the Brodak contest in June, and the FCM contest here at the AMA, Aug. 23rd - 24th, and scale will be flown on Saturday. Chuck Snyder tried to run one last year in Columbus, Ohio, but we two were the only ones who showed up. The Muncie Controliners hosted a scale meet two or three years ago and had a fair turnout. I don't know if more contest are the answer to growing scale or not, but it can't hurt to try this and see what happens.

You are right as rain.  AMA 1th week of August and St Louis is in September.

Hopefully you may consider Stand Off Scale and Fun Scale.  I also may have a 1/2 A twin profile scale that might fit in somewheres.

If the Muncie club holds one in Sept. we will fly fun, sport, and profile scale, I think.

Both the spring and fall contests in Huntersville NC have scale. This will be our 3rd or 4th year.

Count me in, and I promise to make more than 1/2 lap in the air this time.

Can you post directions or a map to your flying site please.
