When I heard that Brodak’s would have 1/2a scale, I knew I wanted to fly, but didn’t have a plane. Luckily a few years back I had started a Kawasaki Ki-45 twin, WWII, Japanese fighter. It was planned with throttles for two AP .061’s, which of course can’t be used for this event.

It was never finished because the electric bug bit me and I wandered away from glow motors. Time constraints to build being minimal I decided to finish it as my entry. To save time the finish is Coverite Microlight. I am not sure how this will work on a glow plane; I hope it will be OK.

I have a good color 3 view for reference. I have found that Testors paint for lexan car bodies sticks quite well to iron on coverings, and it is reasonably fuel proof.

I will use the AP .061's. According to the rules this is OK; "Engine size shall not exceed .061 c.i., or 1 cc, per engine."

P.S The rules are posted on the Brodak site under fly-in, The rule that seems hard is this one
"The landing will be accomplished with at least one engine not running." Especially if you don't have more than one engine.!!!

 Might want to cover up that pushrod exit a little, looks like an oil catcher.

 That seems to just be a normal part of scratchbuilding, trying to minimize the number of "fixed mistakes".

It worked.

Won first place.
