A few more MULTI ENGINE SCALE NATS MEMORIES..
« on: January 29, 2009, 10:59:51 AM »
Found a few more multi scale nats slides to scan this morn. I too, wish I had taken more time to record who the scale flyers were during the nats. Truly pure and simple FLYING FINE ART AT IT'S FINEST!

Do you like Invaders, Donaldo?
I remember one at the '68 Nats that the owners son had the Super 8 movie duty when his dad flew. His dad's A-26 was launched and made an attempt to break ground at too low an airspeed, and the gear was triggered by up elevator. The gear went up and the model couldn't accelerate in time and started dragging it's fuselage on the ground as the propellers got shorter and shorter. It finally stopped, idling. Kid's dad yells over, "Did you get that...?" and of course he didn't!

I like the Cleland Super Corsair (yes, Cook owned the 57 Corsair too, flown by Ben McKillan). I don't remember that one. I do remember a cream and maroon colored one, Cook Cleland's FG-1 "Lucky Gallon" raced in 1946 at the '68 Nats. Funy as i didn't like the dull maroon the builder used!
