A-26 done.
« on: May 06, 2013, 07:40:41 AM »
Here's where I am so far, everything installed for a test fit, still have to do all the ink lines and lettering (oh joy...lol) but it's coming along, my only concern is the weight which is almost 40 oz. on a 225 sq inch wing...ouch!

That is one good looking scale plane.   The weight should be no problem, of course I don't fly scale.

Thanks John, you were right the weight was  not an issue at all. I figured I should to try and fly it before I put in the time to draw all the lines so I took it out for a test flight. After dialing in the engines I took a deep breath and flew it. I took off and flew at 1/2 throttle beautifully, I'm very happy and can'y wait to finish it.

Well here she is all done, the panel lines on the wings don't show in the pics but they are there. I'm happy with it we'll see how the judges feel.  ;D

Excellent choice on Firebombers paint scheme! The colors really bring out all the details.

Any detail pics of the landing gear attachments?

dwayne,
I used bullet prop nuts on my Tigercat and i have included this link to MA for three bladed props. That's make a slight improvement in the intangible impression points!

Thanks Chris, I bought two 3 blades and like a dummy I ordered pusher by mistake, my plan is to sand them down to look scale, use them for judging then take them off for flying, if that's legal.

It is legal, but the static judges could downgrade you for having the wrong pitch on the props.

Removing the receiver for judging is not legal--unless you leave it off for the flight too!

It flew OK.

Came in 4th at The T & D.

Lack of proper documentation.   Didn't idle slow enough to dead stop.

Everything functioned as intended and it didn't crash. A good first effort for a twin.

Looking good ... except for that flat stab/elevator assembly.  The real A-26/B-26 horizontal tail had slight dihedral.
