Anyone who received an e-mail copy of our 2009 rules should note that there's a math error in the possible max score for the Unlimited event. It has since been corrected. For a copy of the rules, e-mail me at vsc-guy(at)cox(dot)net.

It's getting close. Put something together for October 10-11 in Tucson. You don't need throttles and/or operating features for the "Limited" event. In fact all-sheet entries are encouraged.

This is a most pleasant change-of-pace event. Bring a camera! With any luck, this one will again be featured in the pages of FM.

Can't wait to see the pics Mike! Hope you have a great turnout with some cool new models. The B-24 sounds way cool, whodunit?

Here's a 2010 project for Trostle, how about the German WWII plane where they joined two HE111's on one wing and added a fifth engine? Oh yeah, and I think at least one of them carried an ME109 piggyback, like for use as a flying bomb or something...

Wish I could be there.

Here is the He 111Z.

The model that Ron Duly did a number of years ago for profile scale is almost legend. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of it. It was a spectacle whenever he brought it out for one of the 1/2A profile scale contests held in Southern California several years ago. I think he had several kinds of motors on it, including Wen Mac's, maybe a Testors, and one or two Cox engines. Watching the starting procedure was better than any Keystone Cops movie. The starting crew would work to start the engines. Then as engines were started, the refueling crew would keep topping off the tanks of the running engines as other engines were started. Needless to say, the refueling process would sometimes flood the running engine, or a running engine would just quit. So there was a constant flurry of acivitity of the refueling team going to various engines while the starting crew was working to get another engine running. I can remember seeing the thing fly for at least several laps when all the engines were running.

I hope the scan at least shows something of what the real airplane looked like.

Talk about wanting a level playing field!!

Note the four dual main gears. That would require a very level runway.

Having seen preview glimpses of your "work-in-progress" Howard 500 (horiz./vert. tail surfaces) it'll be worth the wait. Perhaps the 4th annual next October? Meanwhile, looking forward to seeing the P-38 here next weekend.

Tell him to make the flight(s) "attention-getting". There is no Junior award this time....just 1st thru 3rd for Limited (no throttles and/or flight options) and Unlimited ("anything goes").

And for those us who take this thing seriously: if Chris ever finishes that Howard 500, we're gonna' have to crank things up a notch, because ..... well, trust me!

Roger, the A-26A was finished as follows:

- 3 coats Minwax Polycrylic
- Rattle-can auto primer (Rustoleum)
- Rattle-can "American Accents" colors @ top
- Brushed black "American Accents" @ bottom & "de-icer boots"
- Testors enamels @ "glass" sections
- Panel lines: Sharpie marker, accented with white pastel pencil.
- Simulated exhaust stains: Prismacolor art pencil
- Rattle-can Satin polyurethane (Ace brand) overall.
