I photographed the scale score sheets after the flying was finished.

Charlie and I are trading awards for Sport Scale.

I haven't a clue as to what models were replicated by the names on those score board pictures (except Clancy). Any clues to give?

The biggest error in taking a model picture is camera angle.  To make the airplane look real the camera needs to be on the ground (if the model is sitting on the ground).  Think of what the camera location would be if you are walking around a real airplane.  See photo of real Extra 300S and model shot at ground level.

PS:  If you really want it to look real avoid grass etc. The grass is too tall to be scale.  Pavement with buildings in the back ground works best.  Buildings in the distance appear correct because the virtual distance from the airplane not the actual distance shows up in the picture.

Thanks for the pics. Was the B-29 built from a kit or from scratch?

Everybody was pretty busy all week.  I got a few pitchers.  We mostly depend on the reports published in Control Line World.

I spoke to Ed Mason about his B-29 / B-50. I have seen it identified both ways this weekend.

He said it is built from a 1950's Japanese kit that he cannot pronounce the name of.

During Saturday's wind flying he kept the power up on the 4 Fox 25s.   He said he felt something go pop and then he no longer had throttle control.   He had brought a spare three line handle but the failure is inside the model.  It is a one piece model!!

The last picture posted above by Paul Smith is of the C-46 Commando. One of the most interesting flight options was the C-46 pulling a glider.  During the tow and after until it landed a second pilot was required to fly the glider!!  Team Scale???  I wonder how much the pull test was on the glider?
