2010 SCALE NATS
« on: December 22, 2009, 12:34:11 PM »
This months Model Aviation has indicated in the R/C scale column that the 2010 Scale Nats will be held on July 9th-11th. A very good change.

I agree Dick, and all controline will be back together again. I know the stunt guys will be coming in that week end for some practice as will speed, carrier, combat, and racing. We might have a good size audience at the scale circles. #^ #^ #^

Blessings & Merry Christmas

I missed last summers Nats. Big crash the week before.  Hope to make it this summer. I have a lot of work to do on the Extra 300S so I wont embarrass myself.  This will be my first Nats ever. It is on my bucket list.

Do not worry about embarrassing your self, I hold the record!

My first NATS in 1983 on my first flight attempt I only firewalled  one engine on my CL Scale P-38 and did a perfect Ground Loop.

I noticed in previous Nats entry forms that the Scale entry fee was $15 for the first event and $25 for each additional event.  Was this a misprint?  Do they actually penalize extra events?  The usual practice is to discount extra events or at least charge the same, $10 in most of the CL events.

If Scale is to be held along with the rest of CL, there will be some economy of scale, so maybe the entry fees should be aligned.

I have been looking at the AMA flying site with Google earth.  I see two flying circles. One rectangle and one L shape.  I also see the shelter where I suspect the static judging takes place.  What I am looking for is the RV parking.  I possible see electrial outlets around the rectangular site.  Could this be where the campers park? If not where do they park?  ???  ???  ???  ???

Go to the AMA web sight and search for sight map. Rv parking looks like it is located at sight 3. That is the R/C sight.

Motor homes/campers are located at the main radio control site.   Tents and some campers are by the road as you enter the site past headquarters.  It has a tree line in an L shape.  It is before the road splits if I remember right.  Don't have to pay to stay in that area.  Still have to go to R/C site for showers.

...I know the stunt guys will be coming in that week end for some practice as will speed, carrier, combat, and racing.

Be fore-warned: There wil not be any circles available that weekend for CL . Asked NATs management and the response is:

"CL Scale is flown on the McCool site and the RC Scale is flown on stage center but due to the over fly issues there will NOT be any circles available for other CL flying until those events are over."

I've seen the site by the river and it looks doable.  Don't know of the other site.
