My Picture in April Model Aviation
« on: March 21, 2014, 08:06:02 AM »
Well if you look on page 127 of the April edition of Model Aviation you will see a picture of a great looking DO-35 being held by an very old dude (me).  I would like to thank Fred for taking over the U-control column and I might say doing a good job. I would like to make one correction - The picture was taken by my good friend Tom Smiley.  The airplane pictured did fly at FCM at AMA 2013 scale contest.  It had a serious over weight problem and did not fly all that good. Built from the same plans is a new lighter version that I plan to take to the NATS 2014.  My progress is being noted in the posting called DO-335

John,

the DO-335 is a great model and we know the 3rd generation version will be better. It is not a simple model to get right

Can't wait to see it fly at the Nats if you can make it

I saw that and recognized your model from the forum. Very cool!
