Vintage Team Race
« on: August 15, 2023, 01:33:17 PM »
In the Open sction under the topic of Wynn Paul was mention of a book on "Aircraft Speed and Vintage Team Racing.  I immediatly went to the bay and did a search and found the book.   Just received it and did a quick glance through it.  I bought it with by now option.  There is a ton of info on team race planes as well as info on the actual racing planes.  I remember guys saying B Team Race was to complicated was the reason for its demise.  Only thing I see complicated was the constructing of the planes and the start procedure they had back then.  I had one built and ready to fly when it was no longer held in our area.  May bild another one and hopefully set it up so any body could fly it like my early rat racers when we were still trying to break 115 mph. and no shut off.  It was fun when you could go 3 up and not worry about being pulled out of the circle.  Also F2C was good but it took practice to be really competitive.  My scale racers were also set up so anyone could fly them.  Mouse is still good as I have a couple still needing a place to practice.  Any way need to take turns reading this book and the stunt history book. I also bought this book after seeing it referred to here on Stunt Hangar. I think I heard about it from Dave Hull. Online, I found a book shop in England that was still selling it for cover price, rather than the grossly inflated "can't get it any more" price. If you have an interest in vintage team race, it's definitely worth looking investigating.

I built a Blue Pants as a kid. Wish I still had it. Might even learn to fly it.
