100 Mile LA 25 Sport Race at the 2015 Brodak Fly In
« on: May 23, 2015, 09:23:54 AM »
The day of The Brodak is fast-approaching.  We have been allocated a time slot on Thursday morning that will allow us to run two 3-up races.   We welcome everyone to take a shot at doing 1400 laps with a sport racer on 60' lines.  This event has been run in Toronto for ten years with a success rate over 90%.  Typically we have 4 to 6 entries.

If our Brodak quota of six is exceeded, some of the Detroit & Toronto teams will step aside.

The plane is basically any sport model with 300 square inches of wing area at least 1" thick and 24" fuselage length.   The engine is an OS LA 25 run on suction with an outboard fuel tank.  The fuel is Ritch's Brew 10% nitro with a castor/synthetic blend oil.   The Brodak Hot Shot is good bet if you want to use a kit.

The official airplane specs are in the Racing section of the MAAC Rule Book.

Brodak Foxberg racers comply with all the rules and could be used.  They would be at a slight disadvantage to an optimum LA 25 racer, but they could finish and maybe win.

This is just a quick-and-dirty overview.   I will forward a more complete document on request.
