Ed,
I am not familiar with the Brodak .049 engines. I understand the first version produced good power and would be a fine engine for the airplane. I also understand that the second version was underpowered. I have heard it described as: " It wouldn't pull the skim off of a Latte!" I wouldn't recommend the second version Brodak .049. I can't tell you how to identify which one you have.
