I'm a 1/2a sport flier and so far I have finished all of models with Rustoleum. I am having problems with the spray tips getting clogged. Any solutions?

I do the upside down bit then I pull the nozzle off the can and pop it in some acetone in a baby food jar. I make sure that all the paint is out o the nozzle and run some acetone through it with a syringe. I also wash the spray spigit in the top of the can with acetone. I imagine that paint or lacquer thinner would probably work in place of acetone (I believe that acetone is supposed to be less toxic).

I still sometimes get clogs!

I haven't had many clogs with Rustoleum. I usually use the automotive enamel if they have the color I need. I don't know if it's more resistant to clogging or not, but I shake it between every pass and purge upside down, as suggested above. The problem I have had lately is having it bubble up under the clear Lustrekote, even after two or three weeks of curing. It could just be that I may be too heavy handed with the clear on my last couple of projects.

Thanks for the info guys! I had a completely clogged nozzle and acetone did the trick in a matter of seconds.

It helps to have the can warm before spraying.  I put it in a pail of hot water so it's warm but not above the 120 warning on the can.  In the summer you can just set it out in the sun for a bit.

I have very limited use of spray cans.  I was once using one and it kept spitting out clumps of paint.  Not having another can, I sprayed the entire can into a jar.  Then put the paint into my spray gun and used it that way.

That's pretty severe, but all I could do at the time.
