I would try any virgin automotive lacquer thinner. Test it first

good high quality thinner not gun cleaning thinner. Ask the auto paint store guy for good quality thinners. He can direct you to the equivalent of 3608

I've used all kinds of thinners. You are, of course, best off when the thinner designed for the paint you are using. You have the best chance of things not going south on you that way. But if you choose something else, just be sure it's compatible (always test first) and don't change what you are using mid-finish. Stick with the same stuff. I can't tell you how many finishes I've goofed up by running out of something and replacing with something else mid-finish. It's not fun.

I have learned the hard way to NEVER let ANY thinner get on bare skin. The body absorbs it and it is cumulative.  Three weeks ago I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. My oncologist said it is caused by paint and associated thinners.
So, use gloves and paint masks that filter out all fumes.

I am still keeping you in my prayers.  Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.  Since almost all chemo therapy treatments are a tiny bit different from patient to patient, most of what i told you will still be relevant.  It just takes a LONG time, sometimes, for us older folk to recover from some effects.  Just hang in there and get through it.
