Does silkspan shrink with repeated dampining ? Just wondering Thanks John

Yes. but less and less.

What do you mean by more dampening? I put silkspan down wet over wood that already had up to 4 coats of clear put down and sanded. Lay silkspan down on surface and start doping. Keep smoothing it as you go. The final coats of butyrate clear is what really makes the silkspan draw tight. Same with poly-span and poly-ester cloth. DOC Holliday

I'm trying to shrink with just water , misted on, and seal with a waterbased poly. I but 3 coats of diluted poly on wood, dampen silkspan, poly around perimeter. After poly dries I mist with water, very lightly, dries taut. then seal with 3 more coats of poly diluted with alchohol. So far it seems to work well. Not looking for concours finish just a non-smell finish. John
