So after you put tape down for outlining a trim design what do you use to seal the edges of the tape to prevent bleed through from the paint. Can I use a little bit of clear dope applied with a Q-Tip?

I have used clear dope to seal the edges of tape, but I applied it with a paint brush, "Q" tips might leave some cotton strands in the clear that will cause other problems.
When I use vinyl tape I haven't noticed paint bleed under the edge, but if you feel safer using clear dope then by all means use it.
Hope that this helps, and good luck...........

Hmm, well, I usually use vinyl tape for trim and while it doesn't really need a sealer, I usually shoot (with a spray gun) a bit of clear along the tape edge. That's saved me more than once.
