I was reading a thread about Allen's Olympus (I think on SSW) and he said that he used iron plastic on the flying surfaces and shot the whole plane with clear (catalyzed poly, I think). Anyway, it's wasn't clear (sorry for the pun) exactly what was used. How is this done? Do you have to rough up the iron-on first? Use steel wool on it or something. I can't imagine you'd get much of a bond otherwise.

Any information on the technique of shooting a clear coat over iron on?

Yea, I got that part (went back an looked myself). It didn't' seem that there was any special surface prep except making sure it was clean. Something I may try.

I'm interested in this too, I've tried clear dope over film, but a single scratch and the dope comes off in sheets even if the film was roughed up. Sure looks good though.
