Lace paint

  How many of you folks remember the lace paint jobs of the 60's and 70's, vans and hot rods?

 Well I want to try painting some myself, don't remember how to "stick" the lace down and shoot the paint thru it, don't want to stick the lace down where I can't get it up after spraying it...

Typicaly I just dampen the lace,, wring it out well, and carefully lay it over the area to be painted,, low airpressure,, and let the paint flash before trying to move the lace ...

Like Mark,  I've done lace jobs without much holding the lace material down and carefully airbrushing.  However I have also had good luck spraying the back with some spray adhesive glue like 3M or whatever at the office supply.  Spray it lightly and let it get mostly dry.  It will then be just a little tacky like low adhesive tape or shelf paper.  I'd still spray lightly and get the lace up quickly.  I like the look I get at the sewing store when buying lace.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I did a lot of lace paint on motorcycle tanks ... since the lace is inside an outlined panel just tape it onto the ends of the panel tape.  Shoot first coat at low pressure and it will stick to the base color. 2 light color coats are usually enough.

  Dave Trible, when I went to the fabric store I had my wife with me, so I didn't get "The Look"...however I have gotten it at home.. LOL LOL

Gil, just go to Home Depot and ask for the Rustoleum Lace.  They don't keep it in the front, so you'll have to get them to look for it.  Many Home Depot paint sales people don't even realize that they have Rustoleum Lace -- just be patient but firm, and sooner or later they'll go off to look for the stuff.

I've been using Rustoleum Lace Paint for years. I paint my snipes with it after the snipe hunt is over.

Oh, you're one of those, trying to pass Ordinary Snipes off as the rare Lace Snipe.  This is why you should always hunt your own snipes, and not depend on snipes caught by others.

I've been making a killing selling my fake Lace Snipes to China. I convinced them that eating Lace Snipes produces more male children than powdered rhinoceros horn. The rhino lobby funds my efforts.

   Tim, I found the Lace Paint!!  But, they didn't have it in the pattern that I wanted..!!   Should I look else ware??  Thanks for your help...
