KLass Kote over Rustoleum how long?
« on: November 23, 2009, 07:44:47 AM »
I have been unhappy with the long term durability of enamels like rustoleum.  I have used polyurethane varnish as an overcoat, but it can yellow.  I have some Kalss Kote Epoxy, and I am wondering on how long the color needs to set up before I cover it in clear.

Since this is a profile I may try to brush it.  I can spray if if necessary.

Any comments?

Enamels are very slow drying and will frequently lift or pucker if you try to recoat them too soon. This is caused by trapped solvents coming to the surface.Since epoxy is cured by a chemical reaction, it may not lift over enamel. I would try a small area that won't show too bad if it does react. If that is successful,I would then go ahead and tr it on the rest. let us know if it works.
