Anyone tried this?
« on: January 27, 2018, 11:10:12 AM »
Lacquer over enamel is a no no, yes? And I'm assuming this is true with butyrate over enamel. If the colors I want to use I can only find in enamel but I want the fuel proofing of the butyrate could I use shellac (Rustoleum"s Zinsser Sealcoat) as a barrier? I'd rather not do the test if someone knows the answer.

Thanks,
Allan Leonard

Hi Allen. Over my work bench is an acronym listed vertically. EBAN. E at the top.  It means, Nitrate over nothing, Butyrate over Acetate and Nitrate and Enamel over all. Not sure if Acetate based  paints are even available anymore, but the Nitrate at the bottom stays there. Not sure about Acrylic  paints. Of course there is always the caveat, try it on a test piece first. Great use for large pieces of scrap balsa sheet. H^^
